Hey there Onlooker, CreativeCookie here and today’s post is about the order of titles in a film.
Titles are used to credit those who produced, directed and distributed the film. They also credit actors/actresses, musicians and costume.
This is a typical credit order for a opening title sequence:
- Studio distributing the film
- Production company (Sometimes ‘in association with’ the investor)
- Producer’s name (A Erin Horsfield production)
- Director’s name (Film by Erin Horsfield)
- Starring (Can be paired with cast)
- Film title
- Cast members (Has been moved to end credits)
- Casting (Casting by Erin Horsfield)
- Music or composer
- Production designer
- Make up, visual XF, costume
Here is an example of the opening credits in order of their importance to the film.
(The production logo always goes first and last on a films title credits!)
